Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Rotarians assisted local children to create Santa Christmas ornaments at the annual Making Christmas Memories event at Spearfish Middle School.
The event was coordinated by the Lawrence County Child Protection Team. Over 150 children attended, and 75 donations to the Spearfish Food Pantry were collected. Sherry Hanson came up with the Christmas ornament idea, and her husband, Eric, sawed over 100 rounds from an aspen branch to serve as canvas for the artists. We all wore red and white paint at some point during the evening. Many organizations participated, and we were serenaded by carolers and musicians. A lovely way to ring in the Christmas season!
