Yukari is spending two years in the International Student Office at Black Hills State University as part of a Jpanese government cultural exchange program. She is teaching classes in the Japanese language, calligraphy, demonstrating the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and other cultural subjects as well as presenting a Geek Speak program regarding the tsunami in Fukushima. She will also present programs to local Spearfish schools. This is her second time living in the United States. She lived in Ohio as part of a Rotary Youth Exchange program. |

In May, 2024, Channing and Alyssa Wagner took over ownership of Eagle Aviation; they now own the fixed base operations at the Black Hills Airport/Clyde Ice Field. “I’ve always loved aviation, I’ve always wanted to stay in it. We had a mutual friend who kind of told me about this area. The business was possibly, potentially for sale. The rest is history from there,” Channing said. They’re hoping to preserve the legacy Ray and Laura Jilek built, in establishing the largest general aviation airport west of the Missouri River in South Dakota. That means working with the city, which owns the airport Eagle Aviation operates, to upgrade and maintain the airfield and its auxiliary facilities. |
